Case Study

Issue:
A manufacturer of automatic assembly equipment was considering areas for diversification and was considering the possibility of developing a range of standard machinery for use in the assembly of photovoltaic cells and modules

Approach:
TCI undertook a series of interviews in Europe and the USA along the value chain for cells and modules, as well as with equipment suppliers, to characterise each item of equipment and the key success factors for a new manufacturer. Forecasts were developed for this rapidly growing alternative energy source, and conclusions derived

Outcome:
TCI identified the potential for standardised solutions in Europe and the USA, and made specific recommendations as to other countries where substantial potential also existed
